USA Team Tennis FAQ's
Q: Who can play USA Team
Tennis-Juniors? A: Any school-age child between the
ages 10 to 18 is eligible for participation. We welcome players
from all skill levels, intermediate to advanced.
Q: How do I register with
USTA? A: Click on the Join USTA button on the
left hand side of this page.
Q: What constitutes a team? A: Teams are made up of at least 6
players. The players are then divided by age and skill level,
and placed into an appropriate division.
Q:
What format do teams play? A: Teams play 5 lines/matches as follows:
1 line boys' singles
1 line boys' doubles
1 line girls' singles
1 line girls' doubles
1 line mixed doubles
Q: What
type of scoring is used A: Teams play 8-game pro sets with no-ad
scoring with a tie-break at 7-all. Total games determine the
winner of the match.
Q: How
do I find a team? A: There are two ways to become part
of a team.
1) Complete the online registration form, and we will place
your child on a team.
2) Gather an equal number of boys and girls in the same age
group and contact us for help registering your team.
Q: How long does league play last? A: Leagues play
throughout the year;
however the minimum time commitment for a team is 6 weeks.
Q:
Do I need coaching to participate? A: Generally all USA Team Tennis teams
will arrange for one clinic/practice day during the season.
Cost for this will be determined by the coach.
Q: Where will the matches take
place? A: Matches will be played at various
tennis courts throughout Cherokee County. Locations
will be determined as teams are established. If there is a location
that you would like to be assigned to as your home team, please
list that under special requests on the registration form. We
will do our best to accommodate your request.
